Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM)

The Holy Cross is dedicated to advancing menstrual hygiene management (MHM) within the framework of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) practices. Our mission is to empower individuals by ensuring they have access to safe and dignified menstrual hygiene solutions. We focus on comprehensive education and awareness programs to promote proper menstrual health practices and dispel myths surrounding menstruation. Additionally, we work towards enhancing access to affordable and environmentally sustainable menstrual products, including sanitary pads, menstrual cups, and reusable cloth pads. Furthermore, we advocate for and support the development of safe, private, and hygienic sanitation facilities equipped with clean water to meet the menstrual hygiene needs of individuals and communities.

Our Approach
  • Conducting training sessions and workshops for women, girls, and community health workers on menstrual hygiene management, including menstrual product use and disposal.
  • Collaborating with policymakers, stakeholders, and advocacy groups to integrate MHM into national health and education policies, ensuring menstrual health is a priority.
  • Engaging with communities to address menstrual taboos, reduce stigma, and promote open dialogue about menstrual health and hygiene.
Through our efforts, we aim to
  • Improve menstrual health outcomes and enhance the dignity of women and girls by ensuring access to safe and hygienic menstrual products and facilities.
  • Empower women and girls with knowledge and resources to manage their menstrual health confidently and participate fully in daily activities without interruption.
  • Promote sustainable menstrual hygiene practices that reduce environmental impact through the use of eco-friendly menstrual products and waste management.
