Overview

Natural disasters can swiftly devastate communities, threatening lives and property. The Holy Cross provides swift disaster relief, including safe drinking water, medical assistance, health camps, and vital supplies. We also focus on long-term rehabilitation by rebuilding livelihoods and essential infrastructure for education and healthcare services.

The Challenge

Climate change has intensified the frequency and severity of natural disasters, making them a formidable challenge globally. In India alone, economic losses from natural disasters between 1998 and 2017 totaled $79.5 billion, underscoring the urgent need for robust disaster management strategies. Much of India’s landmass is susceptible to earthquakes, floods, river erosion, cyclones, and tsunamis, posing continuous threats to human lives and the country’s socioeconomic stability.

Strategic Approach

When disaster strikes, the Holy Cross mobilizes swiftly to provide immediate relief, working alongside partners and like-minded agencies. We focus on delivering essential supplies like clean water, daily necessities, medicines, and shelter materials to affected communities. In collaboration with government bodies, humanitarian agencies, corporate partners, and community resources, undertake long-term initiatives to restore livelihoods and rebuild critical infrastructure such as healthcare and education facilities.
