The country’s long coastlines are particularly vulnerable to rising sea levels, while reliance on fossil fuels and agricultural practices further contribute to environmental degradation. Issues such as air pollution from biomass burning and inadequate access to clean energy exacerbate health risks, particularly among marginalized communities.

The Holy Cross has strategically approached climate change and environmental challenges through a multifaceted approach: emphasizing environmental conservation and sustainable energy practices to mitigate climate impacts and promoting resilience-building measures for communities facing climate-related challenges like extreme weather and sea-level rise to empower local communities by fostering education, capacity-building, and sustainable livelihood opportunities, with a focus on inclusivity and enhancing resilience to environmental pressures.
